On Friday, President Obama signed a law to honor the memories of victims of the 1963 16th street Baptist church bombing, awarding them Congressional Gold Medals. This is Congress’ highest civilian honor , now bestowed posthumously to the four little girls killed in the Alabama church bombing by white supremacists 50 years ago. That moment shocked the nation and became a watershed that spurred on the civil rights movement. Congressional Gold Medals went to Addie Mae Collins, Carole Robertson and Cynthia Wesley, who were all 14, and Denise McNair, who was 11. The ceremony came five days before the 50th anniversary of their deaths inside the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham. I'm now watching the 50th Anniversary ceremony at the church in Birmingham on CSPAN. It is so moving, sweet and sad as well. I wonder what those little girls would be doing now as grown women if they were alive today ... all the missed years for them and their families. There is so much hate and injustice in the world. And so much bravery, honesty and love too... May the spiritual virtues prevail and may Spirit's place be reclaimed and restored to its rightful place in human affairs.

the background music make it extremely difficult to hear the UTUBES. I can't hear what these woman are saying. Can you or I turn it off?
