“A sound mind in a sound body is a brief but full description of a happy state in this world.” – John Locke “We are students & teachers to each other. “ Jampolski, Attitudinal Healing Failure -- or fresh start?
"Act as if it were impossible to fail." -- Dorothea Brande "Failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently." -- Henry Ford "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody." -- Bill Cosby "Fall seven times, stand up eight." -- Japanese Proverb "Stumbling is not falling." -- Portuguese Proverb "You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call 'failure' is not the falling down, but the staying down." -- Mary Pickford "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." -- Confucius "The way to succeed is to double your failure rate." -- Thomas Watson, Founder of IBM Peace Principles
Peace-- its why I'm blogging. That and the healing of the planet. Its why I do anything other than the daily grind. I have hope that we can all (me too!) awaken to what we need to do, and the vital urgency of doing all we can to heal this planet. Quite impractical, you might say. But building foundations doesn't always show immediate results. Its a process, and we can all be part of it right now. Principles for Peace include: Independent investigation of reality; Banishment of all prejudice. The Oneness of the world of humanity; The Oneness of the foundation of all religions. The unity of science and religion. A universal auxiliary language; Universal education; Equality of the sexes. A Social Plan for Justice and the parliament of the human family must be included. We must have action and a plan for Universal peace. Abd'ul Baha -- From the Baha’i teachings-- A summary of Bhah'u'llah's teachings, circa 1860 (More details at Bahai.org) “When things get worse, people get better.” "The blessing of homelessness”, Abdul Baha said, “shall endure forever" :)) I get that & I don't think it just refers to the work and service He was doing either. I feel so blessed to "get" homelessness, having been there. At 18 I set out, thumb in hand, to learn more about myself and the world. My spur to do it was my feeling of being so lacking to meet life, so inadequate. I know if I could meet this thing head on and tackle the world with nothing but myself, I could do anything. And I would say it worked. I did find that place of inner security we all need to have, to go to when things get tough. And much more as well. People say I was lucky not to get killed. I know that, but hey what can you tell a teenager? Today I notice similar effects of the sort of “temporary homelessness” of even those few days when I go away to a conference, or visiting, etc. The blessing, I think, refers to the tremendous tests --&/or blessings that have come my way when I surrender my usual security. These are often multiplied at during a radical change of circumstance, a momentary or not so momentary releasing of the usual ties and what we are rooted to and in. what a blessing it is that when things get worse, people can get better through the tests and triumph that they face. We get stronger inside. So that’s what Im thinking about today. I think homelessness Helps us to go to our "spiritual home", that place within us that is beautifully connected to "Somethng bigger" & greater than all that we rely on in the physical world. When we are in any kind of loss or bereavement, or we don't have that material stuff ( or the loved one we may have lost, etc.) we go to our true home , within us, with Spirit, or whater is bigger than ourselves. “When things get worse, people get better.” Someone, somewhere, must have said that. If not, i claim it ! _______________________________________________ When things get worse, people get better. Addendum In my last post I said that when things get worse, people can get better through the tests and triumph that they face. We get stronger inside. Yes, and that is only when we turn to " Something Greater" htna our own selves, a Higher Power, to virtuousness like compassion. truthfullness or the like. we can turn to our better side. We have choice. and some do turn to the dark side, getting worse, doing things that bring them down like addiction or other hurtful things to themselves or others. Especiallly when the :ships are down". Hanging with people who are connecting with the Greater, better stuffs is important, hopefully a spiritual community of people. I cant do this alone. Of myself I go to self, selfishness, anger, etc., and the opposite of virtue. All that an be the dark side. We were never meant to do this life alone. i get community thru my activiites & friends in faith as well as group support meetings that are helping lots of people! thy are found thru google or email me if u need help finding something that fits for you.. Truth's Power, Denial's death
Denial: A Killing Disease Alot of what we tell ourselves that helps to shut out truth does nothing but cause harm. Most of us are much more attached to our ideas and opinions than to any person or thing— but that can and does harm us. Denial is a hidden enemy attacks under cover of what is accepted or even seen as "right" & good, normal & natural... Tests & Trials of our Time... ...often involve the turning away from truth... For example, not facing our own weaknesses or our life situation honestly keeps us more deeply wrapped in our behaviors & difficulties, adding to them. Truth is the only way out. Although there is a time & place for denial, the continuation of it is unhealthy. To turn away from truth can be deadly. Tests and trials often come to us to point us back to truths we have missed or turned away from in the paths of our lives. If there is something we need to see, we ourselves— the spirit part of us— can actually draw difficulties to us until we become humbled enough to be willing to see. Many who conform to accepted standards, and many who don’t conform may pride themselves on their own clear & independent thinking, but beware, for denial is a master of illusion, hiding well its shape.... |
