“When things get worse, people get better.” "The blessing of homelessness”, Abdul Baha said, “shall endure forever" :)) I get that & I don't think it just refers to the work and service He was doing either. I feel so blessed to "get" homelessness, having been there. At 18 I set out, thumb in hand, to learn more about myself and the world. My spur to do it was my feeling of being so lacking to meet life, so inadequate. I know if I could meet this thing head on and tackle the world with nothing but myself, I could do anything. And I would say it worked. I did find that place of inner security we all need to have, to go to when things get tough. And much more as well. People say I was lucky not to get killed. I know that, but hey what can you tell a teenager? Today I notice similar effects of the sort of “temporary homelessness” of even those few days when I go away to a conference, or visiting, etc. The blessing, I think, refers to the tremendous tests --&/or blessings that have come my way when I surrender my usual security. These are often multiplied at during a radical change of circumstance, a momentary or not so momentary releasing of the usual ties and what we are rooted to and in. what a blessing it is that when things get worse, people can get better through the tests and triumph that they face. We get stronger inside. So that’s what Im thinking about today. I think homelessness Helps us to go to our "spiritual home", that place within us that is beautifully connected to "Somethng bigger" & greater than all that we rely on in the physical world. When we are in any kind of loss or bereavement, or we don't have that material stuff ( or the loved one we may have lost, etc.) we go to our true home , within us, with Spirit, or whater is bigger than ourselves. “When things get worse, people get better.” Someone, somewhere, must have said that. If not, i claim it ! _______________________________________________ When things get worse, people get better. Addendum In my last post I said that when things get worse, people can get better through the tests and triumph that they face. We get stronger inside. Yes, and that is only when we turn to " Something Greater" htna our own selves, a Higher Power, to virtuousness like compassion. truthfullness or the like. we can turn to our better side. We have choice. and some do turn to the dark side, getting worse, doing things that bring them down like addiction or other hurtful things to themselves or others. Especiallly when the :ships are down". Hanging with people who are connecting with the Greater, better stuffs is important, hopefully a spiritual community of people. I cant do this alone. Of myself I go to self, selfishness, anger, etc., and the opposite of virtue. All that an be the dark side. We were never meant to do this life alone. i get community thru my activiites & friends in faith as well as group support meetings that are helping lots of people! thy are found thru google or email me if u need help finding something that fits for you..
