These are the days of Sukkot-- it is one of the Biblical feasts mentioned in the Torah and one of the most important of the Jewish Holidays. Also known as the Feast of Tabernacles or the Feast of Booths, this appointed Festival is a time to remember when the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness, living in temporary dwellings after they left Egypt. Wherever they are, the faithful may erect tents on the street or countryside and actually live in them for this time. When I was in New York at this time, they were even doing it there, right on the streets of Brooklyn! Watch what Sukkot is like in Israel today.
